Dragonfly painting recreated in Sterling Silver

‘Dragonfly’ was first made into a Jason Oliva [Jewelry] piece in 2012.  It  is a true representation of Jason’s original work on canvas Summer (2010), capturing both the artwork’s isolation and the same unique balance of weight and lightness.

‘It was the middle of one of those cold NYC winters that seemed like it was going to go on forever and I had read somewhere that the dragonfly is an Asian metaphor or symbol for summer – so I thought I would paint one.  Its funny how it turned out to be white and blue and even though I was thinking of warmer weather, the painting kept a cold color pallet.  I think in the end that was the thing I liked most about it, beyond the image itself’. (Jason Oliva)

Dragonfly is available as a sterling silver pendant and, the same as all Jason Oliva [Jewelry], is imaginatively presented in a gift box that doubles as a frame. The frame allows for the display of a miniature  print included in the box. Both print and gift box are hand signed by Jason.

The Dragon-fly

By Alfred Lord Tennyson

Today I saw the dragon-fly

Come from the wells where he did lie.

An inner impulse rent the veil

Of his old husk: from head to tail

Came out clear plates of sapphire mail

He dried his wings: like gauze they grew

Thro’ crofts and pastures wet with dew

A living flash of light he flew.
