I completed Red Backed Shrike in late 2015 it is currently making the rounds on display at several John Allan’s Mens club locations and is now back in my studio in Tribeca. I made the initial study for RBS when I was living in England in 2007. While walking along the Norfolk coast we stumbled upon a gathering of excited bird watchers. They explained to me how this Red Backed Shrike was blown over to the UK from Africa and its an extremely rare bird sighting as a result…after viewing the bird through their binoculars and telescopes I was inspired to paint one…well two actually there is a Red Backed Shrike (Dark) as well…that will be for another post.
