I completed Phoenix 2015 from a study that I had created several years earlier. I have always been a fan of mythical creatures especially ones that turn up in so many cultures (Egyptian, Greek, Japan etc.) I finally completed and sold the painting in 2015 and I was pleased that I had made it this large and used the dark magenta back ground too.
